SILENT HILL (all) story

I'm not your Mary
SILENT HILL 2

Three years ago, James Sunderland’s wife became seriously ill and passed away. James tried to pull himself together and resume his life after the loss but struggled to get back on his feet. The emotional pain and emptiness left James in a constant state of mourning. Then one day, a cryptic letter arrives signed by Mary, the same name of his late wife. In the letter Mary writes “Silent Hill, our sanctuary of memories…I will be waiting for you there.”
James is confused and disturbed by the letter. He questions if Mary is somehow really alive or if someone is playing a hoax on him. “I still don’t believe it. The dead can’t send letters, yet I came here to see Mary…”
“Our sanctuary of memories – what does that mean? This place is too full of memories…”
Shrouded in mystery and driven by the desire to uncover the truth, James sets off into the world of Silent Hill…As the fog grows thicker, James realizes that the town is nearby.
“The only way to get to the centre of town is through this tunnel, but there must have been an accident or something because the entrance is blocked. But wait…the map shows a single path through the forest leads to the town. Looks like the only way to get to the town is to take this path on foot. I can’t see anyone in this thick fog, or should I say I don’t feel anyone. I see a run-down building nearby. There’s no-one inside. I am all alone in the mirrors reflection. I look at the man in the mirror and mutter a question…”
“Mary…could you really be in this town?”

ENEMIES LISTING

What's What

Lying Creature

Lying Creature

Location: You'll come across them very often during your journey throughout Silent Hill.

Attack Method: Whilst in their upright position they are not an immediate threat, although if you let one get too close to you it will launch its deadly mist attack. When they are crawling, usually hiding under cars and vans, they can move extremely quickly. Again they do not pose much of a threat like this, but if you let them get too close they will inflict damage.

Weakness: Due to their sluggish walking speed and slow attacks they are open to any method of attack.

Best Tactics:Either use the handgun at a safe distance to bring them down or beat them with the plank or pipe from behind. Once on the ground James use his stomp attack to finish them off.

Mannequin

Mannequin

Location: You'll come across these frequently during your journey throughout Silent Hill.

Attack Method: The Mannequins have only one basic attack, where it lunges it's upper legs at you. Be careful though - they do attack more rapidly than the Lying Creatures. They also tend to leap - without warning - from rooftops and bushes, so be on your guard.

Weakness: Since their range is limited and they are not a quick moving foe, they are also open to many attacks.

Best Tactics: The best way to defeat them is to either use the handgun at a safe distance or beat them to the ground with the wooden plank/steel pipe, to be finished off with James' death stomp.

Bubble Head Nurse

Bubble Head Nurse

Location: Brookhaven Hospital, Alternate Brookhaven Hospital & Alternate Silent Hill.

Attack Method:The Bubble Head Nurse is rather quick on her feet, and her attack range is very long, not to mention lightning fast. They tend to travel in groups of two or three, which can pose as a threat in enclosed spaces.

Weakness: The nurses don't have any direct weaknesses, but they do have a slow turn around speed, so this is the ideal time to launch an attack.

Best Tactics: Always keep your back covered when confronting them. If you enter a room to find two or more, move James into a corner so that the only direction the attacks can come from is in front of you. The steel pipe is a good weapon to use against them due to it's extended range, but the handgun and shotgun are probably better as they can be used from a safe distance. Again, when you have brought them down, have James use his stomp to finish them.

Cockroach

Cockroach

Location: Silent Hill, Woodside Apartments, Blue Creek Apartments & Historical Society.

Attack Method: They do like to attack anyone within their vicinity, but upon doing so they pause for a couple of seconds. This is when your attack is best made.

Weakness: Shoot or stomp on 'em and they're dead. They're not particularly strong

Best Tactics: Try not to waste rounds of ammo. If you can just simply avoid these enemies as they will eventually retreat. But if you feel it necessary to defeat them, a few well aimed shots with your handgun should do the trick. Or, timed correctly, James can simply tread on them once to kill them.

Mandarin

Mandarin

Location: Alternate Silent Hill, Labyrith & Alternate Lakeview Hotel.

Attack Method: They attack from beneath grilles with deadly tongue like spikes that protrude from the ends of their arms.

Weakness: Because they are hanging from the grilles, they have nowhere to hide.

Best Tactics: The best tactic is to just not waste much needed ammo and simply run past them. They are very easily avoided so long as you dont stay stood above them for too long.

Abstract Daddy

Abstract Daddy

Location:Labyrith & Lakeview Hotel.

Attack Method: Abstract Daddy can move at good speed and if you do not plan your attack well they can easily overcome you very quickly. They lunge themselves toward you and attack by locking their jaws on your head.

Weakness: This foe also has no immediate weaknesses, but can be easily defeated if done correctly.

Best Tactics: The safest thing to do is to not use any melee weapons, but to use your shotgun. Keep at a safe distance and make sure you have room to manoeuvre backwards whilst James locks and loads the next shotgun cartridge. They will go down after a few shots.

BOSSES LISTING

… And how to kill ‘em

PH1

Red Pyramid Thing

Location: Stairwell after using the Apartment Stairway Key, 2nd Floor, Blue Creek Apartments.
Attack Method: Pyramid Head has two main attack methods, with his Great Knife and without. The weak side-to-side swings from the knife won’t cause too much damage, but beware of the overhead blow – it’s fatal and will finish you off in one shot. Keep your distance too – if you should wander too close to PH, he will use his free hand to strangle you. If that happens, hit X or L1/R1 as quick as you can to escape.
Weakness: He’s slow and reasonably easy to avoid.
Best Tactics: This first encounter should be over with relative ease, and hopefully without any damage, either. But the first thing you need to know is that this Enemy is impossible to kill. So just make sure to enter the room with a fully loaded handgun, and then fire off those shots as quickly as you can. It may be helpful to count the shots as you’re firing and reload using the Inventory Screen after ten rounds have been fired – this way you’re not left vulnerable when, after ten shots, James has to stop to reload.
Our best strategy is this: fire three or four rounds, stop, reload using the inventory screen, then run to the next corner and fire again, repeating this pattern.
Believe it or not, it doesn’t matter if your shots hit PH or not – as long as you fire off 10-50 shots (depending upon your Level), he’ll disappear after a set time has elapsed. But one final word of warning – when you hear the siren, stop firing and DO NOT follow him! Your enemy is retreating, and if you continue to fire at him or follow, he’ll think you’re up for another battle and attack you once more!
Flesh Lips

Flesh Lips

Location: Examination Room 2, 1st Floor, Brookhaven Hospital.
Attack Method: Ganging up against you, these monsters will follow set routes around the ceiling in order to grab James and choke him.
Weakness: Again, their slowness can be used to your advantage.
Best Tactics: Your shotgun is the recommended weapon for this. Keeping your distance, run into one corner of the room, turn, and pump two or three rounds into the nearest enemy before turning and running into the next corner. Again, we recommend that you count how many rounds you fire to avoid being caught out when James stops to reload.
When you’ve dispatched both Enemies, don’t be surprised when a third one drops from the ceiling. Finished it off in the same way.
If a monster should grab you, press X, R1/L1 as quickly as possible in order to be released. The longer they keep you in their grasp, the further James’ health deteriorates.
Red Pyramid Thing 2

Red Pyramid Thing 2

Location: Brookhaven Hospital Basement.
Attack Method: Using his spear, Pyramid Head wants you and your lady friend dead. And, unfortunately, if she dies, you die – and it only takes five stabs from PH to finish poor Maria off.
Weakness: None, but shooting at him will temporarily slow him down.
Best Tactics: This depends upon your supplies and what difficulty you’re playing on:
Beginner/Easy/Normal: If you’re playing on these levels, this shouldn’t be difficult. Just run run run. You’ll find that James will slam into walls, and while this does slow him down, it shouldn’t stop you from reaching the elevator doors in time. If it does and you’re not successful the first time, try and memorise the layout so that you can turn before you reach the corners and hit the walls.
Hard: It’s slightly trickier now. You’re probably going to have to memorise the layout in order to anticipate and make those corners without slowing down. However, if you’ve got plenty of Health Items and ammo, you could try and intercept the attacks on Maria by getting between her and PH and taking the hits yourself, all the while moving towards the exit. Although you’re not able to kill PH, firing at him should slow him down.
Abstract Daddy

Abstract Daddy

Location: End of Labyrinth Maze.
Attack Method: While the monster is slow, the attacks aren’t – get too close and it will pounce on James and, apparently, try to devour his head.
Weakness: It’s slow to move and quite predictable.
Best Tactics: Use your Shotgun here – while the Rifle may do more damage, it’s much slower to fire and only holds four rounds.
To free yourself from it’s grasp, once again hit X or R1/L1 repeatedly to get away. Copy the method you used the first time you met Pyramid Head by firing off a couple of shots and then running to the opposite corner and then firing again. Repeat this as many times as necessary and, with a bit of luck, you’ll escape this battle unharmed.
Eddie Dombrowski

Eddie Dombrowski

Location: You’ll meet Eddie after jumping down the graves in the Prison Catacombs.
Attack Method: Eddie’s sanity has departed and all he’s left with is a Magnum firearm – this is not a good combination. Use any firearm and he’ll have no hesitation in shooting you right back – which can be tricky to avoid in such a confined space.
Weakness: Get close to Eddie and it seems he’d rather pummel you with his fists than use that oh-so-powerful handgun. In this particular instance, it’s the lesser of two evils and will inflict less damage on James.
Best Tactics: Equip your Steel Pipe before entering the room. When the sequence finishes, press down and hold R2 and X simultaneously. Instead of shooting at you, Eddie will run forward to punch you instead – and being the big loony that he is, he’ll run straight into the overhead blow from the Pipe. 6-12 hits from the Pipe will see Eddie retreat – hopefully, without inflicting any damage or using any ammo at all.
Location 2: As soon as you exit the room above, you’ll move straight into Round Two with poor Eddie.
Attack Method: It’s that handgun again . . .
Weaknesses: He’s not overly quick, so you can sidestep shots using R1/L1 and taking cover behind the hanging animals.
Best tactics: It’s probably best to use your Rifle, for only a couple of shots should see him off. Use the cover that’s available and remember to reload after three shots so that you’re not caught out reloading.
It may help you know that, in some instances, changing the camera angle (L2) will help you keep an eye on Eddie even when you’re hiding behind the bodies.

Red Pyramid Thing 3

Location: Lobby, Alternate Lakeview Hotel.
Attack Method: Yep, he’s back – and this time he’s brought a friend. As if one of them isn’t bad enough, this time there are two of them after you. Armed with spears, they’ll stalk the room and try to trap you in a corner.
Weakness: They’re both slow, predictable and – providing you’re careful – not too hard to avoid.
Best Tactics: Arm your Rifle or the Great Knife for this battle – they’re the weapons to which the PHs are most susceptible, but once again don’t forget that these monstrosities cannot be killed. It’s also useful to know that there’s no need to balance your hits between the two of them – since they both seem to run off the same life-force, it doesn’t matter which one you hit or how often.
If you continuously move around the room in one direction, you’ll notice that they separate in order to try and trap you and block your way. Be smart and keep varying your direction in order to avoid entrapment. Also remember to load manually via the Inventory Screen, otherwise the PH’s will have James Sunderland shish-kebabed.
Using the tried and tested method you should know well by now, move around the room, pull off a couple of shots and then run to another corner again to repeat the process. Eventually, the PH’s will turn and walk away and the battle is over.
Demon

Maria / Mary Demon

Location: Unknown / Nowhere
Attack Method: Mary/Maria is not a happy bunny. Using a variety of methods, she will do all she can to stab and/or strangle James to death using her deadly tentacles.
Weakness: There’s a lot of space on that platform, so it’s easy to avoid her direct attacks.
Best Tactics: Although she’s particularly susceptible to close-range weapons like the Pipe and Great Knife (manage to hit her only a few times and she should succumb), it’s best to keep your distance as her stabbing and strangulation techniques are difficult to avoid. Fire once or twice using the Rifle, and then run away from the approaching cage into the next corner. Although the moths are irritating, they don’t inflict too much damage and are certainly less harmful than the tentacles dangling from the cage (and if you have the Hyper Spray, you can repel them entirely).
Follow this pattern and, depending upon your Difficulty Level, you should dispatch of her with 3-40 rifle shots. Once the cage falls to the floor, don’t be scared to approach her and finish her off with a carefully placed shot from the weapon of your choice.
If all that sounds like much too much hard work for you, you might like to know that you can defeat this creature without firing a single shot. Check out the Secrets Section for more information.

Attack Method: Patrolling usually in threes, they attack as a group and can make escape tricky.

Air Screamer

Air Screamer

Location: Outdoors throughout normal Silent Hill.
Attack Method: They’re mobile, fast and difficult to shake off
Weakness: Their speed means it’s hard for them to change direction quickly.

Groaner

Groaner

Location: Outdoors throughout normal Silent Hill.
Attack Method: These enemies are fast and nimble and attack in packs.

Stalker

Stalker

Location: Alternate School.
Attack Method: Impervious to any damage.
Weakness: None.

Attack Method: Similar to the Air Screamers, but they’re faster and more powerful.
Weakness: Like the Screamers, they have difficulty changing direction in mid-flight.

Best Tactics: Use the shotgun to dispatch of them if you can’t run away.

Puppet Nurse

Puppet Nurse

Location: Alternate Hospital.

Best Tactics: Use the shotgun from as close as range as you dare. Once floored, finish them with a carefully-placed kick or the handgun.

Puppet Doctor

Puppet Doctor

Location: Alternate Hospital
Attack Method: They’re much faster and can inflict more damage than their female counterpart.
Weakness: There are only a few of them throughout the hospital, and they’re usually alone.

Cockroach

Cockroach

Location: Alternate School, Hospital and the Sewers.
Attack Method: They’re quick and attack in groups.
Weakness: They don’t inflict much damage and are easily evaded.

Blood Sucker

Blood Sucker

Location: Alternate Hospital Room 204 2F / Nowhere in Cabinet.

Attack Method: They have a tendency to ambush you and often attack in groups.
Weakness: They’re quite noisy creatures, so you should know if one is about. They’re not particularly fast either.

Weakness: They’re not particularly fast moving and easy to avoid once detected.
Best Tactics: Run past them as fast as you possibly can and turn back to shoot them with the shotgun.

BOSSES LISTING

… And how to kill ‘em

Lizard

Lizard

Location: After the turnstiles in the Alternate School.
Attack Method: The lizard has two main attack methods – firstly, it’ll try and knock you off balance with its head. Then, once injured, it’ll get aggressive and start moving with more speed in an attempt to devour you.
Weakness: It’s head.
Best Tactics: Firstly, run around the room and wait for the lizard to start coming towards you. Shoot it several times in the head before running off and repeating the technique again. When it begins to open its mouth to devour you, fire off some shots into the lizard’s mouth. If you have room behind you, avoid being eaten by walking backwards, making sure to keep your finger on that trigger.
Larva

Larva

Location: Shopping Mall, Alternate Silent Hill.
Attack Method: Disappearing underground, the Larva Boss will re-emerge close to you and omit poisonous cloud into your face.
Weakness: Again, shoot at this Boss’ head to finish it off.
Best Tactics: The Rifle is there for a reason. Use it! Move onto the metal grating in the room – this will stop the Larva surfacing close enough to hit you. As soon as you hear it’s telltale rumble, hit R1 or L1 to move to the side – you’ll be out of harm’s way, but close enough to inflict some damage with your firearm. Don’t forget to aim for the head – anywhere else is just a waste of valuable ammunition.
Red Moth

Moth

Location: Opposite Alchemilla Hospital, climb the metallic staircase to the roof.
Attack Method:This Boss has two dangerous attack methods; first it’ll spray a deadly cloud of venom in your face, then it’ll fly into you, giving you a hefty whack and knocking you off balance.
Weakness: It’s not particularly fast and reasonable easy to avoid.
Best Tactics: This depends upon your supplies. If you have loads of ammo and health drinks to spare, just stand there and fire off shots as quickly and as accurately as you can and you’ll soon finish it off. If ammo supplies are low, keep moving until the Moth has let off its poison cloud. Turn immediately, fire off a couple of shots, then get moving again – only this time in the other direction. Although this is more time-consuming, it will save your supplies.
Cybil

Cybil

Location: Lakeside Amusement Park, Alternate Silent Hill.
Attack Method: Her cop-issued firearm can finish you with two shots.
Weakness: She’s slow, unstable and takes a while to reload her weapon.
Best Tactics: Shoot at her with one of your stronger firearms from a distance, making use of your L1 and R1 buttons to avoid her fire. When she stops to reload, run forward and empty as many bullets into her as possible. Repeat this as many times as necessary. If you wish to use the unknown liquid and conclude the battle without killing Cybil, wait until she stops to reload before approaching her.
Winged Demon / Alessa

Winged Demon / Alessa

Location: After the Child’s Room in Nowhere.
Attack Method: With two main attack methods, this Demon can finish you off quickly if you don’t keep an eye on your life gauge. It’ll either fire at you with a strong energy blast or shoot several lightening strikes your way.
Weakness: The attack methods are predictable, and the Demon stays routed to the same spot, which makes it easier for you to avoid its blasts.
Best Tactics: Don’t even try to use a melee weapon. Equip the strongest firearm you have and chose one of the following three options:
Technique 1: As soon as the battle begins, fire off as many Rifle rounds at the Winged Demon as you can before it starts warming up with its electrical blast. Then start running around in a big circle, remembering to keep moving and avoiding any of its strikes. As soon as it lets off a blast, stop, fire once or twice, then get running again.
Technique Two: Only try this if your ammo and health supplies are good. If you have lots of health, try the technique you used to dispense of the Moth. Use your Rifle or Shotgun and fire at close-range, remembering to knock back a health drink after each hit from the Demon.
Technique Three: This is the non-violent solution to the battle. Before you go through the door in the Child’s Room in Nowhere, get out your firearms and use up all your firearm ammunition.
Enter the arena, and the battle will commence as usual. Select your Handgun, Shotgun and Rifle and fire once using each gun to show that you’re out of ammo. Then just keep running. If you avoid two consecutive hits from the Boss, the Winged Demon will collapse to the floor and the battle is over.

SILENT HILL (all) story

WHAT ARE YOU DOING SON?
SILENT HILL:origins
Travis Grady is alone in his solitary trucker lifestyle. He's content to live his life one mile at a time, making as few connections as possible. It's not that he doesn't have a personal history, but he'd rather leave the past in his rearview mirror.
His latest delivery takes him past a sleepy northeastern town called Silent Hill. Suddenly, something runs across the road, and Travis is forced to swerve out of the way. Leaving his cab to investigate, he posts a young girl, who quickly runs away. Worried she might be hurt, Travis follows.
He comes to a flaming house on the outskirts of Silent Hill. A girl screams from somewhere in the fire, and Travis rushes inside to help. He fights through the flames, the black smoke burning in his lungs. He finds the girl, but eventually gives in to the strain and blacks out ...
... He wakes up in Silent Hill.

ENEMIES LISTING

What's What

Faceless Nurse

Faceless Nurse

Location: Alchemilla Hospital, Cedar Grove Sanitarium.

Attack Method: Faceless Nurses will grapple with Travis, should he get too close. They attack by striking Travis with a syringe, which causes moderate damage. Be weary when in an area with more than one Faceless Nurse, as they have a tendency to attack in packs.

Best Tactics: They can easily be beaten with any kind of melee weapon or even Travis' fists, and should not cause much of a problem.

Straight-Jacket

Straight-Jacket

Location: Central Silent Hill, Cedar Grove Sanitarium, Artaud Theater, Riverside Motel.

Attack Method: Straight-Jackets will engage Travis in a relentless pursuit upon spotting him, and will not stop until they are either killed or outrun. When at point-blank range, they will initiate Travis in a grapple. When further away, they will vomit projectiles at him. Straight-Jackets can be very dangerous in packs, so try to eliminate or outrun one before you are approached by another.

Best Tactics: Melee weapons work well, as does Travis' fists, but be quick, or you'll find yourself grappling with the Straight-Jacket.

Faceless Nurse

Remnant

Location: Cedar Grove Sanitarium

Attack Method: They will strike when Travis is nearby

Best Tactics: Remnants can easily become lethal foes if not handled correctly.Their strikes are quick and powerful, but they can be easily avoided and/or killed by turning off the flashlight. Firearms work well if you intend to keep the flashlight on. If not, any melee weapon of a decent size should take care of them. As with the Straight-Jackets and Faceless Nurses, be weary of packs.

Carrion

Carrion

Location: Central Silent Hill, Cedar Grove Sanitarium, Artaud Theater, Riverside Motel

Attack Method: Smaller Carrions will lunge at Travis when nearby. Larger Carrions will attempt to body slam Travis

Best Tactics: Carrions are very powerful enemies, and they can make even shorter work of Travis than the Remnants if not handled correctly. Their lunge attack is damaging, and can be repeated quickly. Only attempt to run past one if you are not in a building, as the Carrions can lunge at Travis from a considerable distance. It is recommended that you eliminate them using either firearms or heavy, throwable objects. They can be lethal when encountered in packs

Ariel

Ariel

Location: Artaud Theatre

Attack Method: When hanging, the Ariel will attempt to choke Travis. When grounded, it will kick Travis when nearby

Best Tactics: Ariels are not particularly threatening, and can be easily taken care of by use of melee weapons or Travis' fists. They can be avoided by turning the flashlight off. They are slightly more dangerous when grounded, especially when in packs

Caliban

Caliban

Location: Central Silent Hill, Riverside Motel

Attack Method: Calibans will pound the ground with their legs when Travis is near. They also have a slow but powerful lunge attack

Best Tactics: Calibans can easily be avoided by simply running past them. If you do insist on destroying them, then do so at a distance with a firearm, as Calibans can be dangerous when close

Twoback

Twoback

Location: Riverside Motel, Central Silent Hill (Otherworld)

Attack Method: From afar, Twobacks will vomit projectiles at Travis. From mid-distance, they will rush at Travis. When close, Twobacks will ground Travis and grapple with him

Best Tactics: Twobacks are, bosses aside, the most powerful enemies in the game. Their rush attack can be particularly devastating when used in succession, and they are extremely dangerous when encountered in packs. Often appearing in small rooms, they can be difficult to avoid or run past, so it is best to rid yourself of them quickly through use of a firearm. The shotgun and Hunting Rifle are particularly effective. Do not bother with melee weapons, as you are just asking for trouble by doing so.

BOSSES

Face your fears ...

Straight Jacket Boss

Straight Jacket

Location: Alchemilla Hospital (Doctor's Office) (Otherworld)

Attack Method: The Straight-Jacket will initiate Travis in a grapple, should it get too close to him. When at a distance, it will charge at Travis and attempt to inflict damage by spitting projectiles at him..

Weakness: Everything
Best Tactics: This is more of a personal introduction to your next enemy rather than a boss, but since you earn yourself a flauros piece for defeating this particular creature, we shall call it a "boss" for now. Tactics are fairly unnecessary here, as the Straight-Jacket makes for a pitiful boss, endurance-wise. Whether you have Travis smash it with a hammer or simply punch it to death, any attack method will work. Just stay on your feet and be sure to dodge any projectiles thrown your way!

Helen

Memory of Helen Grady

Location: Cedar Grove Sanitarium (Female Seclusion #5) (Otherworld)

Attack Method: Helen will attempt to harm Travis by releasing a cloud of poisonous gas when up close. She also attacks by use of a spiked wheel which emerges, again, when Travis is nearby.

Weakness: Helen is quite slow, and fairly easy to avoid

Best Tactics: Circling is the way to go here. Due to the fact that Helen has to be near Travis to perform any of her attacks, you can make short work of this boss by simply sticking to the walls of the room and discharging your Target Pistol from the corners. Alternatively, if you would rather conserve your ammunition, you could try using throwable weapons such as the toaster and portable TV. Avoid using short-distance melee weapons such as the razor and scalpel, as you are just asking for trouble by doing so.

Caliban Boss

Caliban

Location: Artaud Theatre (Cave area)

Attack Method: Caliban will attempt to charge and crush Travis, should he get too close

Weakness: Caliban is very slow, and takes a while to prepare his attack
Best Tactics: Similar to your fight with the Memory of Helen Grady, scaling the edge of the room and discharging your desired firearm at opportune moments is the easiest way to eliminate this boss. Again, throwable objects work well, as do long-distance melee weapons. Short-distance weapons can be used but -- although Caliban is slow to prepare his attack -- you'll want to be well out of the way before he strikes.

Butcher

Butcher

Location: Riverside Motel (Kitchen)

Attack Method: The Butcher will attempt to choke Travis when at a point-blank distance. When at a slightly greater distance, the Butcher will relentlessly pursue Travis, wielding his Great Cleaver whenever a hit is possible.

Weakness: Slow moving
Best Tactics: A familiar tactic here: scaling and shooting. The Butcher, while lethal up close, is far less dangerous when tackled from a distance. Firearms are your friend here, the Hunting Rifle in particular. Feel free to try melee weapons, but do so at your own risk, as the Butcher's attacks are very powerful.

Richard

Memory of Richard Grady

Location: Riverside Motel (Room 500) (Otherworld)

Attack Method: Richard will attack by vomiting projectiles at Travis when mid-distance. When close, Richard will attempt to bite and lunge his head at Travis. Richard also has a long-distance attack, in which he will use tentacles to strangle Travis

Weakness: Rapid-fire
Best Tactics: The Memory of Richard Grady is, arguably, the most challenging boss in Silent Hill: Origins. The main problem you will face here is the claustrophobic room vs. the large size of Richard, as this leaves very little room for Travis to run in order to avoid attacks. Your best method of elimination here is to immediately equip the Assault Rifle and fire rounds directly into Richard's head, as you will want to end this battle as quickly as possible. If you missed the Assault Rifle earlier in the game or have run out of ammunition for it, then equip another firearm, as melee weapons will do very little to help you here. Richard attacks with great speed, so keep an eye out at all times. Be wary, in particular, of his tentacles attack, which he will initiate when Travis is too far away from him.

Flauros Demon

Flauros Demon

Location: Central Silent Hill (Green Lion Antiques) (Otherworld)

Attack Method: The Flauros Demon will fire great energy blasts at you when mid-distance. When far away from Travis, the Flauros Demon will call upon a rain of fire, which can be avoided with some accurate running. When close, the Flauros demon will attempt to pummel Travis.

Weakness: It's attacks are long, creating a large opportunity for retaliation when evaded.
Best Tactics: It's time to use the Redeemer. If you failed to collect the Redeemer or have run out of ammunition, then other powerful firearms will help you. It is possible to defeat this creature with melee weapons, but unless you are talented in the art of evasion, it is not recommended. Your best time for attack is when the Flauros Demon is firing an energy blast, as he is extremely vulnerable at this time, and the attack can easily be avoided.

It all comes down to this …
